These are three dresses designed by Vivienne Westwood with hats designed by milliner Stephen Jones to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Royal Ascot. They make tribute to the fashions of the past so notably displayed at Ascot.
In particular they make nods to three particular periods in fashion. These being the 1840’s in the center, the left Edwardian and the one the right 1940’s.
Also the image as the background is Ascot in 1818.
There is a book that has been released looking back at the 300 years of fashion diplayed at Ascot, both men’s and women’s, entitled “Fashion at Royal Ascot” by James Sherwood.
